Critical Wax Essential Tracks
We have spent literally years backtracking through the decades to find out what we like and what we don't like. This is by no means a definitive list (!), it is merely our opinion which we wish to share based on a wide taste in popular music...but we are always open to suggestions for additions to our lists (get in touch via the CONTACT page) and let us know the tracks that you feel warrant a place in our lists. We will endeavour to assess your suggestions as soon as time allows - and may even get back to you if you're really unlucky.

1950-1959
The 1950's saw the first rock 'n' roll explosion, predominantly in and around 1956 when a young Elvis Presley launched himself at the world...popular music was never the same again.
With rock and pop still in its infancy, we list anything we came across that we found worthy of repeated plays. You'll find that the 1950's pale in comparison to future decades!
Please contact us if you would like to suggest anything worthy of a place here - we'll check it out and add it if we feel it's worthy of a place...and you may even get some recognition for your suggestion, if we feel like it.

1960-1969
The 1960's is when things really took off...The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix - to name but a few of the huge artists that remain synonymous with this decade. As a result of so many legendary artists appearing this section is BIG...we've had to split this down year by year for your reference.
Again, please contact us if you would like to put forward your views on why we've left out something you deem worthy of a place, and we'll do our best to assess your suggestion to see if it's something we could simply have missed in the huge catalogue of tracks.
1970-1979
The 70's is remembered for a number of different genres: glam-rock, disco and punk being the three major players and all three are well represented in our 70's section.
The birth of punk is possibly the biggest and most influential genre of all-time, far outlasting the glam-rock genre and also disco music has evolved, but the primal roots of punk have outlasted all others and can still be found today influencing (and being played by) an army of bands across the globe.
As ever, please get in touch with your suggestions or ideas for tracks we've omitted.
